Hi Hurricane....I love rollerderby. I actually didn't know such a thing existed until Rollergames in 1989! I LOVED the Thunderbirds and the antics of Ms. Georgia Hase and Patsy Delgado against Skinni Minni and Electric Randi I was so amazed at all the athletisism on skates that I was hooked. My brother told me that the sport was around since he was a kid. I immediately looked up, found videos, learned the sport etc... on everything and anything that had to do with the Thunderbirds and I was hooked since. I have a great collection of articles, posters, and videos. As far as my background, I've been skating on and off in rinks since I was eight. The only thing similar to a banked track I've been on was the circular driveway. I don't own any skates right now, but I plan to buy some this month. I am fortunate enough to live a couple of miles from the local rink here so I can practice (if I get a chance for the derby) and rent their skates on the weekends. How do I keep in shape, for a couple of weeks, I've been slacking, but my regimen consists of cardio(walking, epilipitical machines, skating,etc...) weight training, wrestling training, and my job as a CNA(Certified Nurse's Aide) where I'm constantly lifting and on my feet a lot.
That picture of me was from last year(before I cut my hair) I was known as Ricky Powers: The All-American Boy. I plan to keep wrestling as well as skating! If I'm blessed to get a chance to skate in Rollersports, I will accomplished two of my childhood dreams!
