I had to upload my picture or get dropped from this site, wahhhhhh. Now I have to go figure out how to do it, lol. Hope you had a good trip getting away from all that snow. Take care, love you.
Trudy
Thank you for coming over to our table at BJ's and CHITCHATTING with my family & friends, after the game. You and VICTOR "MADE THEIR DAY"..

I remember watching you in the episode of "T-Birds Vs. The Maniacs" and at the end of it, Matt Bickham shoved you and you fell and hurt your back? How is your back doing today? I hope there wasn't any permanent damage from that.
and I'm sure Matt was very sorry that he got you hurt. I hope things are going well for you in your life. You were defnitely one of the great players of "The Maniacs" one of my favorites from that team.
I will be uploading the episode in which you got hurt up on YouTube, along with a few others I've kept over the years.
I hope the RollerGames from the 80s and 90s get released to DVDs. There's alot of the seasons I missed out on. I got into RollerGames a little late in my childhood. By the time I was really into it, the show was cancelled.
Well, take care. I wish you all the best.
Shawn
Take care man, and I'll see you on the board!
GUIDELINES for HOME team (White-Shirt) ROOKIE role
(There are rare exception’s to these guidelines for the rookie role)
Bring paying friends’, coworkers and family to the games. Sell tickets for the team; even if you are not skating that night
Continue training and practicing more “body” moves that enhance the roller derby “story line”
LISTEN AND LEARN THESE:
Understand the roles and pecking order on the teams. Never over step your “rookie” role and never take the focus from the “stars” on the teams
Watch and learn how the experienced skaters bring the fans to cheers, boos, moments of excitement and pandemonium. Learn from this. One day you will need to perform these well timed plays.
Listen to the PERIOD and memorize it and the plays by the experienced skaters – YOU will be set in the plays over time. Meantime, help remind skaters of both teams in the pack of the next play. Talk without looking at other skaters.
JAMMING:
Do not JAM and score unless it is “set for you”. Never pass an opponent for a point unless it is “set for you” or unless the captains have called it and are helping you to score at the rear of the pack.
Learn to take great falls, rails and stunts for the home team skaters. Learn to draw out the sympathy emotions from the audience. Discover and emote your “good” side (without taking focus off the top stars).
Rookies can’t fight or throw heat or get involved with the top skaters who are working heat or fighting
Listen to how the audience responds to your moves then adjust your moves to enhance the audiences’ response
FALLS OR INJURIES:
GAME FACE:
White shirts draw the audiences’ sympathy to your falls, rails and injuries. Learn to get up slow after a fall, listen to the audiences emotion. Learn to wait for the medical person to hover over you that adds to the audiences empathy.
Always be friendly to the audience. Always sign autographs and make the customers feel welcome. Develop a GAME FACE. You are on the “good guys team”
PACK WORK:
Learn to work the pack: “Whites or Reds up front” … “Slow it down… Pick it up” “Get a red out”… “Hole me back” … “Stay up top” … “Get a white out” …
Never disrupt the plays by hitting or blocking others in the pack unless it is part of a “set play”
Do not drop into the rear of the pack where the staged plays are about to happen. You will be in the way.
I do plan on being at Pomona on July 19th for the next game. I had a great time these last 2 weeks watching some familiar faces skating, creating mayhem and having fun. See you then!! Take care. ~Chuck
I used to go to the old Olympic Auditorium back in the mid 80's, and I think, if I remember right, you used to skate with either the Devils w/Georgia Hase or the N.Y. Bombers. Then again, I could be wrong on both, and you could have been on the Outlaws with Anna Anaya. It's great to see some of the people I used to watch back then still skating in the league today. I thought about trying out for the T-Birds in 1985 or 86, and the week they were to hold the auditions, it was called off.
I'm going to be at Pomona this Saturday for the T-Birds vs. the Hawks. It will be like old times for me. :-) Take care! ~Chuck
