The thing I remember most about RollerGames/RollerDerby is:
I came upon the Roller Games in the early 70's when I was just going into high school. I was immediately hooked and loved the Eastern Warriors. I loved the personal rivalries that took hold with every team: Judy Arnold vs. Diane Severson, Judy vs. Judy Sawinski, (before she came to the Warriors) Ronnie Rains vs Trotter and Little Richard Brown, Buddy Jr. vs. John Parker of the Hawks and Danny Reilly of the T-Birds, to name a few. Plus the silver-haired announcer Elmer Anderson used to crack me up sometimes during the player interviews. But my favorite moment was the last time I ever saw the Warriors. It was when they were in that 3-way finals aginst the Chiefs and another team (I think it was the Tbirds. Nobody gave the Warriors much of a chance since they were facing off against the supposedly superior Roller Derby teams like the Chiefs. But the Warriors overcame a big deficit when Buddy Jr. himself donned the skates in the middle of the game and racked up a bunch of points after putting on his ol' # 67 over his street clothes

I did watch the Derby as well (The NY Chiefs on Sat with Carkie O and Joanie Weston from MSG. They were great but watching the Warriors on TV Friday and Sat, nites from the Spectrum were my first love. What a thrill it is to start finding some some footage and memorabilia of those times. Glad to be here!

Hi Don,
Yes, Sowinski vs. Arnold was the first match race I ever saw back in 1969. The two Judys are two of the best female skaters that I've ever seen.

Have you been to our 2007 Warriors reunion in Cherry Hill, NJ or the 2008 reunion in Medford, NJ? Both Judys were there as well as Richard Brown, Buddy Atkinson Jr, Jim Trotter and many other former skaters. It was a great time.
