I've watched quite a few clips of the old derby from the 1960s, '70s and early-'80s, and I must say that, if McMahon's wrestling today had to compete with the derby of the 1960s and early-'70s, he'd probably break a sweat trying to stay in business.
I stopped watching wrestling in 2001, after he bought WCW and ECW. At one point, I thought WCW was the better draw, and ECW far more daring.
RollerGames (the TV version) was doing better in the ratings than American Gladiators at one point. But I agree. If Quintex had not bought the farm, and RollerGames had done away with the gator and those made-up team names (Violators, Rockers, etc.)…

- Saw 'K.C. Bomber' (for the 1st time) and a derby match in late-'70s/early-'80s, watched all of 'RollerGames' (the '89 brand) and some of 'RollerJam'.
