Give this a try? Let me know if you can visualize the emotion and drama?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two jammers break from the pack from each team. This play is for skaters who can fall and get up several times.
The jammers begin to exchange blocks. The blocking gets a little more personal and rougher as they go around and around. Increased JABS and elbows the audience eye to them.
When the jammers finally approach the rear of the pack, nearing scoring position. One jammer takes a flying jump on the other, and both fall down.
The fans ooh in delight. (you have the spotlight!)
Both jammers scurry back to their skates. They make sure neither gets a lead on the other, because this is a set play. They skate a few feet again.
Then, the other jammed jumps onto the opponent. And both crash to the track making an awful noise.
The fans enjoy the thrills and scream and yell.
Meanwhile, the pack is slowly moving away, making the distance between the two jammes, further and further.
By now, each skater is breathing heavy, hair is displaced and their faces are red with exhaustion.
Yet, both scramble to their skates, simultaneously, and another one takes a leap onto the other. They both crash. Cheers from the audience, so much action! A grudge has certainly been developed.
The two, perform the subway as many times increasing the hate, drama and violent moves.
Time on the clock winds down to 15 seconds, and now the two skaters are more interested in hurting one another than jamming or trying to score.
BOOM! They go down. You have the fans in a FRENZY!
Time run out with another BIG CRASH and cathartic cheer.
And, like a good roller derby game, sometimes the skaters just stop and start fist fighting! But hopefully the refs pull you two apart! That's HEAT!
Congratulations you two SOLD!
I will bring your new skates for you, yes i would call them new after all the work and parts i put on them. I will be driving the big truck up on Thursday morning and setting up the track. When i see you in training on Friday 10th i will go over your skates with you and get them just how you would like them. We are about the same weight, so i have set them up to how i skate. The skate trucks and axles are not all that hard to set-up. As you know your nuts and bolts newed new threading so, i used a Tap And Die Set and Instead of Metric i made them U.S. I will show you what size ratchets, open end wrenches and accessories you will need.
Your skates are just like new and ready for any fast rolling action.
Maybe we all can do dinner?

THE WHITE KILL PLAY
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to make those fans get their greatest catharsis!
As a skater, you will need to be so comfortable on skates, your mind is free to think about these sets, or team plays, their timing and how to ad-lib or what to do when the drama of the play "goofs-up".
Why is this the WHITE KILL play important?
The game needs to develop or "build up" the audiences "hate" for the visiting teams star blockers and heat artists. This play shows the audience/cameras just how violent and mean the visitors are!
The WHITE KILL play will show that the visiting team wants to win so bad, they are willing to hurt one of the small or new defenseless white shirt jammers, or even take a penalty, instead of play by the rules.
It is the core of BAD ASS DERBY!
The pack starts as usual
The whistle sounds, and a small or new white shirt breaks, and ends up alone at the rear of the pack with about 20 seconds in jam time. Work something on the jam so you take time up!
Go out with a red shirt and block a little. FINALLY you yell HERE YOU GO. The code for fall down you bitch.
When you take the lead jammer position, the white shirts in the pack form a wall in the front of the pack, while the back of the pack is all red shirts.
Any red shirt jammer should be brought back into the pack and held in by the wall of whites.
WHY?
The whites want as many reds back there as possible so their jammer has the most ability to score. The play shows a 100% white offense and a 100% red defense. Logical strategy, makes it real.
With the whites controlling the front, the white shirts SLOW the pack down! They slow the pack down, again, so their lone jammer has as much time as possible to pass those red shirts on the other team for a point. Again... sports logic for the fans.
It could be a grand slam!
The white shirt jammer comes to the rear of the pack ready to score. BUT, there is nothing but big tough red shirts from the other team back there. The red shirt blockers look like BRUTS, with tattoo's and piercing, set them selves and glare at the little jammer!
They are BAD ASS, and ready to kick ass!
Being a good little home team skater, the lone jammer to the far right, is determined to try to score for her team, as well as for the home crowd.
Jammer comes in, (on the outside) and takes a HARD block. Jammer rolls back from the block as if in pain. This is a bit of roller derby acting. Jammer is not really trying to score, instead is trying to SELL the white kill play.
Jammer NEVER tries to really pass a red for a point!
The crowd feels empathy for jammer. You have the crowd!
The little lone jammer doesn't want to let her/his team or fans down, even though jammer is so much smaller or newer than the bad ass blocker in front of her, jammer tries to score again. (I'm explaining the acting you need to portray to the audience)
Sometimes, the pack almost comes to a halt, this gives the red shirt bully plenty of time to get in a lot of hard hits!
This time the blocker throws what looks like, a HARDER block, near the jammer's neck. It appears like it is blasted full force. (Roller derby acting 101)
The home team jammer reels back, and throws head back as if in greater pain. Perhaps looses the helmet! Ouch! Jammer uses one hand to hold the location where she was just blocked, as if it really hurt! (Again, more roller derby acting 101.)
The blocker is 'acting like a bully' and the jammer is acting as if in pain. If your acting is NOT convincing... you;ll never get this role again!
Empathy and sympathy emanate from the crowd.
Unable to get through the defense for a point, the lone jammer looks ahead, in the front of the pack and can see her/hus big captain, and jammer signals captain, as if she were he savior. Jammer uses big arm signals call out to her captain for help.
The captain, signals back, will try to come to the rear of the pack to help out her/his jammer. These are pantomime moves, that telegraph the scene to the audience. The captain, is NOT really going to get to the rear to help her jammer.
The red shirts in the pack, push and shove any white shirt helpers (blockers) to the front of the pack, keeping them from getting to the rear to assist the little jammer.
Time begins to run out. Things look hopeless! The fans are frustrated.
All alone, the little white shirt jammer tries valiantly to score again and again, but takes a beating, over and over, Jammer uses showmanship skills to portray pain, frustration and exhaustion. (giving it the old college try)
The fans hope for the best!
The jammer slowly runs out of steam; holds gut as if in pain and exhausted.
The fans, emotionally, are on the jammers side, and they begin to hate the bully visiting blocker for being so rough on the smaller white shirt. "Not fair," they yell.
Your league has now successfully BRANDED the bad as skater as a tough character on defense, and the fans will not forget that red shirt. Your league is developing memorable STARS!
BAM, the red shirt blocker kicks jammer, and now the red shirt is hot-dogging, enjoying the masochism of giving unwarranted pain to the white shirt jammer.
Over and over, as the clock runs out, the little jammer attempts in pain..
Breathing hard, holding onto the parts of the body that were injured. (Again roller derby acting 101)
The fans hate the red shirt even more, but still hold onto hope.
Just three seconds remain in the 60-second jam time.
Just when the buzzer sounds, one last blast from the tattooed bitch/bully, throws our little jammer over the rail, or is slammed down hard onto the track. Better yet, the bad red shirt may pop the jammer in the eye and draw a penalty. What a villain!
The jammer lays still, writhing for the pain to go away. JAM OVER.
The white shirt captain, rolls back to the side of the fallen little jammer who gave it her/his all.
Teammates or medic help the jammer to the infield.
The white shirt jammer, gets up slowly, groggy, holding her back and other painful body parts; milking the audiences empathy, and then she is escorted to the infield where she can rest on the bench and rub or massage those terrible injuries.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This play is usually one of he first few in the game. It dramatizes the conflict between the two teams, the home team and the visitors, and sets an important stage for the game.
Your league has developed (in the minds of the fans) a bad ass character, who isn't going to take shit from the home team.
The major kick ass conflict is now on!
Remember, its all roller derby acting, pantomime and body movements used to telegraph emotion to your audiences. Rehearse, rehearse and rehearse!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
To add a great variation on the kill play, have more than one red shirt drop back and rotate blocks. First one red shirt clobbers the white jammer, then another moves into position and clobbers her. The red short team can double or triple up on out little jammer, so the audience is even more riled up.
You're all over the internet.
Your skate will be fast!
love you
