RollerFans.com: The Roller Sports FanSpace!

Hi guys,

My purpose for this new discussion is to give everyone on the site a chance to share your memories of Matt., whether it was as a fan watching him skate for the T-Birds on television or at the Terminal Island RollerDome, hanging out or skating and training with him. I would love to hear your stories especially about meeting him. Pictures are especially welcome too. =-)

My favorite memories are basically watching him take on the Jet way ("Wall of Death and Jet Jump) like it was a piece of cake. It also impressed me he gave credit where credit was due by crediting Ralphie for helping him take on the Jet way. I have also heard that he was a very nice guy too. I only wish I had a chance to attend a live taping of RollerGames and got a chance to meet him even for a few minutes.

That's all for now.
Stay Cool my friends. =-)

My most favorite memory of Matt is when he scored the highest score on the wall of death and the jump ramp. I was excited for him. I just wish I had the chance to skate the wall. I know some people are afraid of the wall or hate on the wall. I say boo on them. Now if only Matt would join us here at RG.com.

Hi

If you ask me, Matt was king of the JetWay. He showed no fear and likely a healthy respect for it too.How about that one cycle during the T-Birds-Maniacs game when he no sooner came off the jump when he faced Richard Brown's screamer. Matt was able to avoid him and made it look easy. According to a stats sheet I have, Matt scored 76 points in that game, which is a record in my book.

I hope he does join the site and I hope he joins the new show in whatever capacity even if he doesn't skate. Just to have him back would be good enough for me. and I still stand by what I said about him in "Skaters you wish made a comeback" too.
Stay Cool,
Amy

Matt was always one of my favorite skaters on the T-Birds, right up there with the late Ralphie Valladares.

Matt always seemed to make getting 6 points on the Wall and 6 points on the Jet Jump look so easy, when in fact, it is not.

Let me just say this, If the 1989 RollerGames were still happening and we still got the Wall of Death and the Jet Jump, I would have become a skater for that.

Even if I fell on my butt, I'd still be taking that Wall on!!

I hope Matt is involved with the new TV series in some capacity. Hell, I'd even love it if he co-hosts with David Sams on day he and his team doesn't play, and competes with his team on the days that he does.
