Hey everybody. How many of you remember the old roller games that took place at the Olympic Auditorium during the 60's and 70's? I never had the chance to see them in person there, but I sure enjoyed watching them on tv. They were broadcast on two channels that I recall. One was Channel 9 KHJ and the other was a Spanish channel known as KMEX 34 on Saturdays. It was very addictive for me watching those games.

I remember watching the T-Birds back in '72 on channel 11 here in The Twin Cities on Sat. nights Roller Derby was on channel 9 on Sat. afternoon then wrestling at 6:00 on channel 11 and then "Roller Game of the Week" I had only been exposed to "Roller Derby" prior to this time as no stations in the Twin Cities carried the "Games" until "72 well, needless to say it was in early '73 that all versions of Roller Sport disappeared from local TV but I kept track with my issues of "ROLLER SPORTS ILLUSTRATED" then in about '75 they stopped it wasn't until fall of '82 during the Football strike I wrote a letter to the St. Paul daily paper(Pioneer Press/Dispatch) that football fans were upset, but us Roller Derby fans had it worse well they published my letter and included a picture of Raquel Welch fom Kansas City Bomber. Less than a month later The T-Birds were here with a "live" game. They turned The Met Center into "The Olympic" for me then in the early 80's we got Games televised here locally and "Bill Griffiths" called me to personally tell me games would be televised here locally and I had his permission to record them!! What a thrill so whenever I hear the word "Olympic" I think of the T-Birds! And when I hear Kezar Pavilion I think of the Bombers and when I hear Hammond Civic Arena I think of The Pioneers etc. Thanks To All The Skaters past, present and future!!! MEMORIES ARE GREAT!!!!

Yup. You'll never get back there. Times and costs have changed greatly from the olden days. Lets think forward and not backward.

Hello Tim. No, I am not in training because I am in no way even a skater. I am strictly a spectator. Me trying to merely stand on a pair of roller skates would be a joke in itself. But thanks anyway!
