It is on TV in the SF Bay Area reaching about 1 Million viewers. And JAM, the roller derby movie is running on National TV.

There will be growth.

I know this is not perfect for every one yet. But this is a strong opening and is growing.

Rollergames should come back now because of the rise in interest in the sport, thanks to the rollergirls. With some of the veterans trying to hang in there its probably the last chance to have decent training and skills passed down to the next generation. and without that , its over. I remember watching rollerjam and when the vets like Patsy started skating, she was unstoppable, the other skaters didnt know what hit them. you need to have somone to pass the torch and teach the game, then the young skaters can reinvent it, yet still remain faithful to the game. With the WWf still dominating sports entertainment, I think its getting time for a change. Roller games is that change. But no Alligators!!!!!

Hey there! My name is Chuck, better known as "Mr. Neato", and I've been a fan of Roller Derby/Roller Games since I was a kid growing up in the 1970's. I can remember watching the games hosted by Dick Lane and Elmer Anderson, and watching the likes of Ralphie Valladares, Ronnie "Psycho" Rains, Danny Reilly, Debbie Heldon, Debbie Garvey and a host of other great skaters....on all teams. I've seen Harold and Bernie Jackson battle it out with the T-Birds, I've seen MIZZ Georgia Hase, Anna Anaya, Leroy "Bad boy" Gonzalez, "Pretty Boy" E.G. Miller, Guru Drew all stick their thorns in the sides of the T-Birds as well.
I would LOVE to see the games come back to television, and I agree with Ted Lee with comment of leaving out the alligator pits, the figure 8 track or other forms. K-I-S-S = Keep It Simple Stupid, is the best way I can say it. Showcase the atheletes abilities, and not focus on how gorgeous the women are or whatever. Shirley Hardman may have been a good looking gal, but she could be a vicious S.O.B. on the track when she needed too.
I look forward to when the Games come back on the television. I followed the games in the 90's, and was disappointed when it didn't last too long. If I had the skates, and could take a pounding, I'd try out for the games. :-)

I remember when the Warriors first came to Philly and the second series was against the Midwest Pioneers. The Pioneers were lead by Margie Lazlo, Cathy Read, Sandy Dunn, Lydia Clay, Ronnie Robinson, Bob Woodbery and Eddie Krebbs. The Warriors were lead by Judy Arnold, Judy McGuire, Harlean Kean, Buddy Atkinson, Mike Gammon and Little Richard Brown. It was a great series that was very realistic looking, all scores were in the 50s and there was more action than in any other series that I remember the Warriors ever skating. The key though was the focus was on skating not on theatrics (sp). Bring back Roller Games in the Roller Derby format and eliminate the silliness. With the WWE and TNA on a downslide, the time is ripe for Roller Derby/Games to win a lot of fans.

Hey, there. My name is Ted Lee and I just joined this group tonight because I wanted to say this: I've been a Rollergames fan since 1968. My city's team was the Philadelphia Warriors with the One and Only Judy Arnold. I've followed the Games (I almost signed up after high school) to the end in 1975. Disappointed, I went on to college and I've been anxiously awaiting the return for 30 years. In that time, I've seen wrestlin' grow into a nightly event on television and I've often wondered why the Games could not get another foothold and I think I've figured it out. If you bring it back, please do so without figure 8 tracks, alligator pits, motorcycles and flames and T&A. It's BORING! Can you guys just concentrate on the action, skill and athletic ability of the skaters? If the girls (or guys) look good, save it for off the track when they meet the fans after the games, or the TV interviews or appearances at the mall. I want to see roller derby, not a strip show, nor do I want to see what could be a great sport and superior family entertainment turned (again) into a cartoon. In fact, I would love to work with Mr. Sams personally to make sure he gets it right because, sometimes "less is more"...

Hello, my name is Kenneth Palmer. I just joined this group yesterday, so this is my first post today. Well, I too watched the roller games on tv during the 70's as a kid. I also would love to see it return to television. I did follow rollerjam in the 90's when it surfaced. It was very reminsscent of the traditional roller derby that we all know and love.
