The Rumor Mill: Live Gators Back in the Game? TV Exec Recommends Adding Electric Chair!

There was a time when--and only when--a game would go into Sudden Death Overtime and live Gators would be brought out to the track and put into the Gator Pit. In order to win a game, you would have to knock your opponent into the pit to score the winning game point. RollerGame Players were furious over the inclusion of live Gators--half wanted the creatures, half DID NOT! Now, there are rumors that the gators will be coming back. Officials are currently not commenting on these rumors. However, word has it that TV executives who are considering putting roller sports on the air may, in fact, demand it! Says one TV exec who wishes to go unnamed, "Live Gators are being considered, as are a pack of wild coyotes and wolves. The TV audience is very demanding. They want to see blood!" What do you think, should wild animals be part of SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME? (Note: See my follow up conversation with this TV exec below, where he also recommends that we add an electric chair element at the end of each game!).

And you've been TOLD by MIZZ Georgia Hase. No more CIRCUS -- no more GIMMICKS.
We want it to be a SPORT not a TV SHOW. Didn't anyone learn from the first time around with both Rock'n'Roller Games and then Roller Jam? Once it became a circus, it ended.

People were insulted by it.

Georgia

you are so right no animals in the game. Let the skaters skate

The only gator allowed in Roller Games should be the ole crocodile herself. There was nothing more entertaining the watching Ms. Hase go after Randy "because she was her property". Now that was entertainment.

You're right, Adrian. I would pay to see that...then I'd leave to find a good roller derby game somewhere.

Well as one of the skaters that was in the roller games I could say lots on this but I was tot " if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" but if you think the gator skaters were part of the team you need to think again so I vote NO! All you need to make this work is GOOD SKATERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Send the allegators back to the Florida everglades, they have no place in this sport.

Whoever thought of this must have had his thorazine shot wear off.

Aloha, Bren:

Wow, I remember you skating in Hawaii. Ronnie Kolsoozian was staying with us during the brief time you were all skating in Honolulu (the last time Roller Games came to town, I think).

Are you still skating now?

Aloha,

Adrian

Sam, Im not sure if your trying to promate this to bring back tv tapes as skaters today will never be the same as the past. AGAIN ALWAYS MY OPINION
===============================================================================
Im sorry again to post to all this mail going out about having animals on a skating sport , why not just put a pair of skates on some monkeys and let them go skate against the alligators.
Your all making a mockery out of a sport that was a life time of skaters efforts to sell and live there life to make it a public sport for all generations to have some excitement in there life. To be respected as athletes, not circus freaks.
To get active in another sport besides baseball. Football, or hockey, even ice skating got more respect then Roller Derby, when at one time in the 50's was very well respected and was on TV all over the country as a top rated sport.
Roller Games or Rock and Rollers took over and made a mockery out of a sport that could have be here for generations to come, if others would go back and have skaters trained to skate not be a circus act to please a violent crowd.
I don't no many of the fans from the days of Bill Griffith's , 80's/90;s/ who was destroying the gift he had by using a circus act and left skaters to have to fall into this trap, as it was not the skaters themselves as most were very talented sport skaters from different kinds of backgrounds to be able to bring RollerDerby back to a very high level. This is also to include the Roller Jam skaters who had there chance to be able to make a career of the true days of Roller Derby and travel all over the world and sell this sport again. Instead they let management take over and again bring another destroying sessions to this sport to another freak show.
You all knock these rollergals but let me tell you go watch them there not my derby but they do play & love this sport, They have developed a way to play a lidget game, Not all of them are true athletes just a groups of woman who found excitement into making a roller sport return, maybe lots of you should take a lesson from them. There growing all across the world, Look out your days of derby will soon be gone if you don't take heed and start training new skaters and use the old timers knowledge to teach them a sport, try it one time, skate a game where there is strictly skating, no fighting, chairs being thrown, maybe the fans might be bored but teach them again what this sport really is. Offensive & Defenciving playing, good blocking, good jammers to try and out monomer around the track to out smart the blocker.
Take ice hockey, Look at the goal player.
I have said enough like it or not get back to being a skater,
not a clown
This again is out of the big mouth of the past.
