Over rated roller games stars. We can focus on the "Games" , but I will also take Derby, girls, or jam stars as well
I chimed in on a discussion about Roller derby-games-girls-jam stars that you would have on you're own dream team. on this list lets see who you would consider "overrated" and would rather have on the opposing team? And lets not be mean. maybe 3 men - women. I also get the feeling that scripted players that really weren't great skaters are gonna end up on this list. But remember thatt just making it to the Roller derby or games or jam or girls, leagues means you have some talent.
1- Mike Phillips- Mr. P He looked mean and bad, but he was so easily outsmarted or out skated by the little jammers, If I had to rech the back of the pack it would be him I would want to defend.. With a little brainpower .Easy score
2-Cain and Able, and Julie Amazon ? I am not Exactly sure of the names - Florida sun dogs last season - two clowns that were to enhance the by then terrible Florida Sundogs - why they didn't promote Bob Barker who reminded you of a Charlie o or Bill Groll is beyond me. Julie had a great name, but no backup on the sundogs team and usually got Creamed in almost every jam - mostly with double team plays.
3- Lindsay Francis - Cindy Zimmerman - Tbird Twins ---- Pretty (beautiful) faces - average skating ability - the Twins were there purely for show as eye candy, cowering under the intense pressure of Ms. Georgia Hase. Lindasy Francis looked great in a bikini, but when she beat the Vastly superior Telisa Miller in a match race. it was over. Cindy always took the fall on jams, almost any jammer could out skate her. Need proof, all the videos with these skaters are on this site.
4- Brad Lemkuel ! - I mostly saw him as he flew over the rail. I would match race against him totally untrained tomorrow and probably win. I will add some of his rail flying ability on here real soon. I promise.
5- Tonette Kadramas- She was in Kansas city bomber, Battled ( got splattered by) Joanie Weston in a few rare inter league games. Is great in an interview, and a decent skater, but not a team carrier, when compared to skaters like Sowinski or Arnold. she had little real substance, luckily she was paired with a good back up team like Candy Mitchell, and Patti Calvin, and Vicky Steppe. They made her look good , when she was just average.
I will also add Some of the roller games managers,( not including Georgia Hase, Dave Pound, or John Hall.) As well as the roller jam managers ( The Nurse, and the dominatrix accountant, and Kenneth Loge) ! silly characters
The alligator: he must have drove the animal rights people insane.
I am not saying these skaters cant skate or aren't competitors. They are, I will just say put the camera on more interesting and worthy subjects.

I don't remember if the title "MS." for her came from the 60's. I know they referred to her as Ms. Georgia Hase in either the late 70's or early 80's......and anytime you referred to her just as Georgia Hase, oh, you got a verbal tongue lashing from her. I loved her as a heel manager, and never really saw her skate much, except for a match race or two. She really got the emotions going with the crowds during the games. I wouldn't know if she is overrated or not, as I really haven't seen her too involved with the games lately. She has been in attendance at Pomona with E.G. "Pretty Boy" Miller, but she is sitting in the crowd.
As far as anyone who is over rated or not, I'm not really sure. I'd have to look back on people who I've seen skate, whether it be in the past or currently.....anywhere. So for now, I'll reserve judgement until I can think of some who are over rated or not.

I'n not saying I agree with this; but the one name that I've read over & over again on message boards that was over rate was: Darlene Langlois
and I would have to respectfully disagree with Tim about Mzzz Georgia Hase. In terms of impact in todays roller derby world, the WFTDA and their trolls have dedicated their whole entire operation on running their organization just like Mzzz Hase did way back when!

I changed the title of the post to address what you said, also remember many derby stars and even few roller jammers or rollergirls have skated for the games as well at one time or another.

err... i think you misunderstood what i meant
in any case, starting a thread to put down skaters from the old shows just seems juvenille... particularly when you consider some of them were put in to the show to play characters - not skaters. clearly their skating ability wasnt a key consideration

I am not trying to put anyone down whatsoever, you got me wrong, I was a youngster for most of my television roller derby - games / What I was trying to ask was" and as for me I can remember hearing certain names announced over and over, but they never really did any good plays to go with it. Georgia Hase would never make my list as I love the villians, and the strong women, I felt she could back up anything she ever said. If you can make a best team, there is nothing wrong with also having another list. And for the record I can be juvenile I am akid at heart , what can i say?
